Dr. Greta L. Doctoroff’s research examines the connection between behavior problems and academic difficulties in preschool children. In particular, she investigates parent-child and teacher-child interactions that promote children’s social-emotional competence and school readiness. The goal of her research program is to identify key mechanisms in the development of children’s social-emotional and academic competence, and to apply this knowledge to the development and evaluation of cost-effective, feasible preventive intervention programs in home and preschool settings. Dr. Doctoroff's work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences. She serves as a consultant to Head Start and other early childhood programs. She has expertise in intervention programs for teachers, young children and their families, and in cognitive-behavioral therapy. Dr. Doctoroff teaches courses at Ferkauf on developmental psychopathology, early childhood, and evidence-based treatments for youth. She maintains a private practice in Scarsdale, New York.
